What Kind Of God Is This?

Before we ever face the “evil day,” we need to settle the question of who God is. If we believe God is against us, distant from us, or constantly looking for reasons to punish us, it will profoundly affect the way we pray, obey, persevere, and interpret our circumstances.

But Scripture reveals something astonishing: God has chosen to reveal Himself as Father. Through Christ, we aren't merely forgiven—we've been adopted as sons and daughters. God has given us the Spirit of His Son, who testifies within us that we belong to Him and teaches us to cry, “Abba, Father.”

We don't obey to earn His love; we obey because we are loved. We aren't slaves trying to secure a place in the house—we are sons and daughters who have already been given an inheritance.

Before the battle comes, we need to settle this: Our Father is good. He is for us, not against us. And knowing who He is changes everything about how we face what comes against us.
